The opportunity to work with Janet has supported a thirst for cross, inter, trans-disciplinary collaborations, to support new ways of working and thinking. New collaborations have been explored in subsequent residencies, commissions and research. Some of which I will highlight below.
An 8 month residency at St Asaph Cathedral supported the development of the interactive installation Weaving Narratives. This was longlisted for the Lumen Prize, which may be viewed here: Weaving Narratives
I engaged in trans-disciplinary collaboration with archeaologists, physicists and engineers during a residency for Cadw. I discovered a richness in the sharing of practice and research inquiries. A Blog of discoveries made and the resulting installation can be found here: Illuminescence
A lens and lighting research period at Optro-electronics Technology and Incubation (OpTIC) Centre was supported by Arts Council Wales and the Strategic Insight Programme (SIP), Bangor University. The centre is responsible for creating the lens for the multi-million pan-STARRS project (Panoramic Survey Telescope & Rapid Response S ystem) located on Hawaii and for the world’s largest telescope to be built by the European Southern Observatory in Chile.
The research informed the light sculpture Focal Perception
From January - May 2016 I will be involved in an Arts+Tech Accelerator programme at MadLab, Manchester. This period will support the devlopement of Focal Perception, to create a user responsive interactive light installation in which I will be exploring technologies to construct a delta robot to work as a light navigating system.
